100 Day Delay is Justin Salvant, a producer from Salt Lake City creating some beautiful combination of atmospheric electronic music with neoclassical elements. He shows it on his debut EP called Fault Lines.

As it's been said, the artist loves "blending modern classical elements with ambience". But it's worth noticing that Salvant's electronic music ranges from subtle ambient to really pushy heavy sounds and thick beats. This whole creation was gathered together to form five intriguing tracks out of which I was most compelled by Blindside with its apparent chaos and absolute beauty.

100 Day Delay to Justin Salvant, producent z Salt Lake City tworzący przy tym piękną kombinację atmosferycznej elektronikę z elementami neoklasycznymi. Pokazuje to na debiutanckiej EP-ce Fault Lines.

Tak jak zostało to powiedziane, artysta lubuje się w "spajaniu elementów klasycznych z atmosferą". Warto jednak zauważyć, że elektronika u Salvanta rozprzestrzenia się od delikatnego ambientu po naprawdę rzucające się w uszy ciężkie dźwięki i tłuste bity. Wszystko to zostało zebrane w pięć intrygujących kawałków, wśród których najbardziej ujął mnie Blindside z jego pozornym chaosem i absolutnym pięknem.

Rorcal - Muladona (2019) EN

Another time the Swiss alternative music is audible, this time it's the post-metal Rorcal who decided to create something really terrifying and formed it into a new album called Muladona.

The band show that the metal-esque music doesn't have to create fear only by the means of the aggressive, overwhelming and very sad music, not only with the screaming vocals but also with the fantastically ill-omened lyrics, ones that make the listener shudder over and over again. Those spoken word fragments of the album are its might and characteristic feature. The Swiss took them from the book Muladona written by Erik Stener Carlson who not only gave them a blessing to use his prose but also recorded his own voice reading it.

This fantastic experiment engages the audience in many various ways into its dramatic and terrifying plot but also treats the ears with a great quality post-metal music that makes no room for pauses and peace from the album's omnipresent feeling of danger. 

Muladona can be yours for anything you want to pay.

Kolejny raz szwajcarska alternatywa daje znać o sobie, tym razem post-metalowcy z Rorcal zapragnęli zrobic coś naprawdę przerażającego i zaklęli to pod postacią nowej płyty Muladona.

Zespół pokazuje, że muzyka około-metalowa przerażać może nie tylko agresywną, przytłaczającą i bardzo smutną muzyką, nie tylko wrzaskliwymi wokalami, ale również fantastycznie złowieszczymi tekstami, przy których słuchaniu człowiek wzdryga się nieraz. To właśnie melorecytowane fragmenty tej płyty są siłą i znakiem szczególnym tej płyty. Szwajcarzy wzięli je z książki Muladona pióra Erika Stenera Carlsona, który nie tylko udzielił muzykom błogosławieństwa, ale wręcz użyczył swojego głosu czytając prozę.

Ten fantastyczny eksperyment wciąga uczestnika na wszelkie sposoby w swoją dramatyczną i przerażającą fabułę, ale również cieszy ucho znakomitej jakości post-metalową muzyką, która ani na chwile nie daje wytchnąć od wszechobecnego na płycie poczucia zagrożenia.

Muladona można mieć za tyle, ile chce się zapłacić.

Slow Crush - Ease (2019) EN

The Belgian Slow Crush has already quite a name on the shoegaze scene so whenever they show anything new, it's worth checking out. Same as with the Ease EP reedition.

Released at the end of October album includes tracks from the EP under the same title from three years ago and the recordings from the Part Time Punks session. The band makes music that's "heavy like a gloomy dream yet soothingly vibrant", raw sounding guitars and Isa Holliday's vocal that's lost between them makes me think of slightly less experimental version of A Sunny Day in Glasgow. Still exceptionally well sounding is Linger with its piling up layers of music and extremely airy vocals at the end of the track.

What's more important for this release, the band is really good at transferring those characteristics on live performance. So it makes the EP absolutely worth listening to.

Belgijskie Slow Crush ma już niezłą renomę na shoegaze'owej scenie, stąd kiedy tylko pokazują coś nowego, warto się temu przyjrzeć. Podobnie jest z reedycją EP-ki Ease.

Wydana pod koniec października płyta to utwory z EP-ki o tym samym tytule sprzed trzech lat wzbogacone o zapis sesji dla Part Time Punks. Zespół gra muzykę, która jest "heavy like a gloomy dream yet soothingly vibrant", surowe w brzmieniu gitary i gubiący się między nimi wokal Isy Holliday przypominają mi trochę mniej eksperymentalną wersję A Sunny Day in Glasgow. Szczególnie dobrze wciąż brzmi Linger z jego nawarstwiającymi się warstwami muzyki i eterycznym do granic wokalem w świetnym finiszu tego kawałka.

Co najważniejsze dla tego wydawnictwa, zespół potrafi przenieść te zalety również na utwory rejestrowane live. Warto więc je sobie odpalić.

Human Strange - Finale (2019) EN

Human Strange is a project from the Phillip Stosberg-Adam White duo, two artists from Chicago. Although not super well-known, they managed to release a new album and Finale is definitely worth getting to know by every fan of the shoegazing rock music.

First thing you notice is clearly White's vocal: not only peaceful, more like whispering, atmospheric and adding to the album's extreme ethereality. If you don't believe, just listen to the finish of the great opening track Faux Real. But this is not all, the same vocal can be very subtle and very unsettling, sounding like taken from soul music or stolen from Drab Majesty.

The music that goes together with the vocal is a non-imposing, very much alternative but also peaceful rock. There's some experiments there, some guitar noise, but first of all it's a perfect background for the vocal and charming songs.
