The Italians from Japanese But Goodies show how to combine guitar-electronics driven post-rock with catchy vocals. Perhaps it's the effect of collaborations with theatre stage where words are usually very important. And how well off music and theatre go together is best shown by the Greek 2l8.
The album begins with truly post-rock track "Sol Levante" that's amazingly moody and spacious. And it goes smoothly into my personal favourite here, "Architecture" combining post-rock emotions with interesting vocal and touching, spoken ending put on a layer of thick guitars. "Why I hope of seeing you again. I was building in me an architecture to welcome you". And the whole album goes like this - good post-rock interwoven with sang tracks that draw your attention. Plus, there's your new alarm clock - under number 4.
"Cold Spot" is available for 7 EUR.
