It's probably clear by now that those three guys from Pune are my favourite Indian artists. Their post-rock music is as inclusive when it comes to original sounds as it is atmospheric. It's all proven true once again on the band's sixth album entitled kyun? 

Reaching their 10th anniversary as a group, the artists dedicated the album to... dedication. Or more precisely, "to the strength it takes to keep going". As always, the dense atmosphere of their music is achieved by the use of violins the sounds of which are not only complimentary, it's very often the main focus of the audience and it's a great thing. I just love post-rock with strings, no doubts about it. And here, violins play both of the spectrum, the energetic, melody-bringers and the calmer, atmosphere-makers. Obviously, it makes the music feel cinematic too, but it's not the main feeling I get when listening to kyun? 

The guitars are also joined by a flute (I think?) and a multitude of samples, ambient passages, other effects. That's what I call an eclectic and inclusive guitar music! And Uddipan Sarmah's vocals are another thing. It just fits the style of the band and I'm always open for more vocals in post-rock compositions. After all, the artists are set to create a "must-experience for anyone who appreciates the power of music to evoke emotions and transport you to a different world" and so any means are acceptable to do that.

The Hindu band of aswekeepsearching appeared already on the blog two years ago with their album Zia. This time their modern post-rock drawing from both electronic trip-hop and more traditional guitar music, can be enjoyed on their third album called Rooh.

The word "rooh" means "a soul" and the album itself is supposed to be emulating "band's experiences, struggles, emotions & self-awareness over the years". No wonder that the music here is both emotional and poignant. It's greatly achieved by the vocal that sounds a bit pop-like, a bit post-hardcore and certainly very unique besides the post-rock compositions.

Overall the music's pace is slow, in this way it's close to peaceful ballads (sometimes very peaceful as in Aas Paas), even very much in the pop format. This song includes also some extremely interesting neoclassical elements that build a wonderful atmosphere. Perhaps even more appealing are the compositions that are built on the trip-ho, ambitiously electronic tricks as those in Eneke Najaaba. Let's add that the band starred the 2018 edition of dunk!festival and, as the sixth track suggests, they liked it very much.

Hindusi z aswekeepsearching pojawili się już na moim blogu dwa lata temu z albumem Zia. Tym razem ich nowoczesny post-rock, czerpiący zarówno z elektronicznego trip-hopu jak i tradycyjnego gitarowego grania, posłuchać można na trzecim już wydawnictwie, Rooh.

Tytułowe "rooh" oznacza ni mniej ni więcej a "duszę", sam album zaś to muzyczna emulacja "band's experiences, struggles, emotions & self-awareness over the years". Nic więc dziwnego, że muzyka na nim jest emocjonalna i poruszająca. Duża w tym rola wokalu, który brzmi trochę popowo, trochę post-hardcore'owo, a na pewno wyjątkowo w towarzystwie post-rockowych aranżacji. 

Ogólnie ich tempo jest powolne, w tym aspekcie blisko im do spokojnych ballad (czasem nawet bardzo, tak jak w Aas Paas), czasem nawet bardzo popowych w klimacie. Ta ostatnie piosenka zawiera też kilka bardzo ciekawych elementów neoklasycznych, które budują znakomitą atmosferę. Natomiast jeszcze ciekawsze są kompozycje oparte o trip-hopowe, ambitnie elektroniczne zagrywki, takie jak w Eneke Najaaba. Dodajmy, że zespół wystąpił w 2018 roku na dunk!festivalu i, jak wskazuje utwór numer 6, musiało im się tam podobać.

Aswekeepsearching, a band from the Indian Ahmedabad, inspired by Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You or Sigur Rós, no wonder they create guitar/electronic post-rock that is literally swarming with emotions. When they released their first album, they changed the way the alternative music was seen in their country, they also achieved what they were aiming for - beauty. No they are back with the new album called "Zia".

The opening "And Then Came Spring" combines an atmospheric post-rock with electronic beats. The band is not afraid of adding catchy vocals to this genre although they seem to match more likely traditional indie rock. Still, together with heavy guitars and inspiring compositions, they sound well enough. A real explosion of epic music takes place in "Reminiscence", one of the songs that you wish that never ends. And then there is one more in "Hope Unfolds" and beautiful finish in an ambient "Ascend".

Also the visual part of the project is worth noticing, the cover art for the album is one of my favourite this year.

Aswekeepsearching, zespół z indyjskiego Ahmedabadu, zasłuchani w Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You czy Sigur Rós, nic dziwnego, że tworzą gorący od emocji post-rock z gitarami i elektroniką. Po wydaniu swojej pierwszej płyty urzekli ojczyznę nowym spojrzeniem na muzykę alternatywną i stworzyli to, w co celowali, piękno. Teraz wracają z drugą LP zatytułowaną "Zia".

Otwierający album "And Then Came Spring" łączy atmosferyczny post-rock z elektronicznymi bitami. Zespół nie boi się łączyć tego gatunku z dość przebojowo brzmiącymi wokalami pasującymi raczej do tradycyjnego indie rocka. Niemniej, uzupełnione głośnymi gitarami i imponującymi kompozycjami, dają one radę. Eksplozja epickiej muzyki następuje w "Reminiscence", jednym z tych utworów, które chciałoby się by nigdy się nie kończyły, a potem jeszcze jedna w "Hope Unfolds" i piękny, kończący wszystko ambient w "Ascend".

Uwagę zwraca też dopracowana strona graficzna projektu, okładka albumu jest jedną z moich ulubionych w tym roku.
