Random Forest - Ascension (2022)

Aaron Gilbert and David Walters (the latter known, also to the readers of this blog, as The Echelon Effect) create a post-rock music duo called Random Forest. And while their discography is certainly not short, my interest in their music came with the latest EP called Ascension.

It's a short but very moody release filled with soothing, relaxing instrumental compositions that are based on the sound of acoustic guitar and certainly inspired by the calm of the nature surroundings. Together with hazy synth backgrounds, they create a beautiful, foggy soundscape that makes you feel like tucking in under blankets. This kind of atmosphere changes half the way of the second track, making way to heavier guitar sounds, but the overall feeling is the same: it is cozy, warm music that should make you feel better in no time.

Ascension costs whatever you want to pay.

The Echelon Effect - Drift Static (2020) EN

David Walters releases his music as The Echelon Effect for over a decade now and he's got really quite a lot already in his portfolio. This time, it's, the second one already this year, album called Drift Static.

His music makes a material for peaceful experiencing and meditating made of a mix of everything from ambient and neoclassicism to soft post-rock. We're taking off with piano beauty in One Day We'll Have a Fireplace of Our Own only to quickly come closer to droning ambient and further, into the stories of instrumental ambient and neoclassical keys. This creates an effect of drowning into dreamy atmosphere not so different from the cover art's mist, one the spell of which is broken only with the monumental sounds of The Year Is Done, which, on the other hand, depicts the mountains - breathtaking and gargantuan.

Drift Static costs whatever you want to pay.

The Echelon Effect - Drift Static (2020) PL

Zaczynami od epatującego urodą pianina w One Day We'll Have a Fireplace of Our Own by szybko zbliżyć się do dronującego ambientu i dalej w mieszaninę instrumentalnego ambientu i neoklasycznych klawiszy. Daje to efekt zatopienia w rozmarzonej atmosferze nie tak różnej od mgły na cover arcie, atmosferze, z której wybijają dopiero podniosłe dźwięki The Year Is Done, które z kolei jest górami - monumentalnymi i zachwycającymi.

Drift Static kosztuje tyle, ile chcesz zapłacić.
