The Lonely Bell - Ghost Town Burning (2023)

Coming from the very North of Scotland, from Isle of Lewis, The Lonely Bell brings with himself a beautiful and melancholic drone soundscape on his new album called Ghost Town Burning.

It's a calm and steady soundscape. It's not the winds and the ocean of the North, it's its grey weather and stillness. Nothing really moves and nothing really wants to. The drones form a sea of static, melancholic sounds that should hypnotize any one of you. If you can't go North and settle in a cozy hut on the ocean cliff, this album is "hypnotic, bewitching, and ultimately restorative", a real pause in the middle of your hectic life.

Ghost Town Burning costs 5 EUR.

Check: Ghost Town Burning
Country: Scotland, UK

Velveteen Riot - She Rains Over Me (2018) EN

Scottish Velveeen Riots is a project fascinated by guitar music ranging from punk to shoegaze and combining dense guitars as seen in Slowdive with punk pugnacity of The Jesus And Mary Chain. The band has recently released a short EP proving their potential.

"She Rains Over Me" includes only three tracks but it doesn't matter they are not extremely interesting. The big deal of focus is set on the guitars, their sound occupies a lot of the tracks' time, sharing the stage with vocal. And this one can sound more airy ("Quietest Day") or almost punk("Disturb the Universe").

Another deal are the melodies, the writing of which is the best side of the Scots, perhaps the best one is the one in "Disturb the Universe". Power, guitars and melodies, just what the punk shoegaze should look like indeed.

"She Rains Over Me" can be yours for whatever you want to pay.

Leviathan Owl - Everything Will Be Fine (2017) EN

Leviathan Owl or Andrew Scott from Scotland its this week dose of advanced, complex and really good instrumental music. Scott's post-rock is both loud guitars and really ornamental compositions with beautiful keys and electronic backgrounds.

All of this is shown already in "Pofaced" that is everything but a simple song. The inner ear can't catch up with all the variations offered by Scott here. And the other tracks are not different at all. I mean they are different, in every second. In "Home" alongside aggressive guitars, there is a composition played on piano and the two pieces composition entitled "Built by Dogs" is really nothing familiar.

Leviathan Owl post-rock has quite positive vibe in it, it shows the beauty while hiding the melancholy and pain of this music. While listening to this album one can hardly disagree with the title.

"Everything Will Be Fine" is available for pay-what-you-want.

Leviathan Owl - Everything Will Be Fine (2017) PL

"Everything Will Be Fine" można dostać za płać-ile-chcesz.
