Vlimmer - IIIII (2016) EN

German mix of post-punk and coldwave and to make things worse with lyrics in Goethe's language, that sounds... warm, nice and melancholic? Like cat, blanket and rain behind a window? Is it possible? Yes. Given that the cat is undead, the blanket covered with runes and the rain taps the funeral march. Vlimmer can combine the uncombinable thanks to adding some dark shoegaze atmosphere and deep darkwave vocal. And German in his mouth sounds indeed more like recitation of "Der Erlkönig" than Till Lindemann singing.

IIIII is, as you can guess, the fifth album of the Berlin-based artist. Underdog Fanzine described it as "a frightening occult spectacle of Berlin's underworld" and I can hardly disagree. If the vocal doesn't spook you, the sudden drone backgrounds or ambient pauses will.

The album is published by Blackjack Illuminist Records and costs 3 EUR.
