Life on Venus - Encounters (2017) EN

Venus, the goddess of love. Is there life in her? This is the question the Russian Life On Venus seem to seek answer for. The Moscow based musicians chose their path to do so through the most emotional kind of shoegaze - they tell their stories with delicate vocals, catchy melodies and loud guitars.

The album swarms with emotions - those insanely hot and those slightly colder but still managing to warm up most of the cold mornings. It begins with more space-love metaphors in “Around the Sun” ("Infinite space, our ship has crashed/Around, around the sun we dash/Wake up, wake up, I'm calling you/To say I love you "). This cosmic atmosphere is even stronger with the pictures of night slowly transforming into day in the next two tracks but they all gravitate around the leitmotif of the album (and probably of life) - the domain of Venus. The band express their emotions in delicate, non-invasive way drowned in calming shoegaze. They are also not afraid to agree that love is the most unique and important of all the cliches as with the lovers certain that they are so special in "Clover Field" - "Noone will know the way we feel".

Subtle vocals, loud guitars and tons of love. Is there life on Venus? It seems that the shoegaze telescopes of the Russians allow to catch a glimpse of some.

"Encounters" is available for pay-what-you-want.
