Reverbcore - Diffusion (2017) EN

Has this genre between dreampop and shoegaze, the one that is a bit too guitar-filled for the former and a little too dreamy for the latter, just gained a new name? Young Russians from Petersburg offer their project's name and, to be honest, it fits perfectly.

Reverbcore create absolutely delicate tracks, subtle, almost childlike vocal gives the impression of listening to someone's diary from the happy childhood times. It fits, absolutely, it's one of those super characteristic things that make a project original - just like Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead's voice. Also the music joins the theme, especially the keys that sound like glockenspill (e.g., in "Tomorrow") and the neurotic, withdrawn guitars.

The album consists of four short tracks. They left me with the urge for more as there is a lot of potential there. I'll wait for more. Especially that the dreamy mood of the closing track "Circles" one can only fall in love with.

"Diffusion" costs only 1 USD.
