Summer Effect - Reverie (2018) EN

Cinematic post-rock that is not bombastic but still has tons of atmosphere? This is the Indonesian project Summer Effect. "Reverie" makes already the fourth album by the band and it is filled with guitars sharing the space with piano keys and strings.

Although it is a typical instrumental album, the artists carry a clear, positive message to the audience, as they state: "Listen carefully to hear this words. They are not there. There are no actual words. But feel the music and you will hear them". If you follow this line of thinking, the lyrics on "Reverie" is a real poetry. The music by the Indonesians is written mostly for the smoothing piano and nerve-wrecking guitar sounds that can be really loud ("Evoking Paradise") but also make a unique atmosphere. So do the strings and they are plenty, as it is fitting for the cinematic music.

When you listen to the album, you can easily guess what kind of "scenes" the tracks should appear in , it's obvious that "Reverie" is a tear-jerking splitting up scene, "Unfeel" the hope's reborn while "Sultry Safari" could make a good track with the movie's best music theme for the closing scene. I'd watch it.

"Reverie" costs 7.99 USD.
