Pertegò - Black (2018) EN

The Italian Pertegò is absolutely not a new band, their previous albums were released at least four years ago, and Black is supposed to be the project's new beginning., And they do it with an album filled with with ethereal post-rock full of electronics and epic sounds.

This atmosphere generated by the grand keys, electronics and strings has its source in the project's philosophy reflected in those words: "telling stories about still free nature, they are talking about their world made of simple things and the nature that gave them birth". Those thoughts, just like the Italians' music, seem to have connections with new age movements, but also has a lot of original approaches and grandeur. If there was ever a cyber-punk adaptation of The Lord Of The Rings, Pertegò could make its soundtrack.

This album sounds best when the epic music is joined by a very professional-sounding vocal, which changes everything into some sort of post-rock opera (as in Cold Ballad). But the most delicate and perhaps the most epic would be their brilliant K.A.R.I.

Włoskie Pertegò nie jest w żadnym wypadku nowym zespołem, ich poprzednie albumy wydane były przed czterema laty, teraz, wraz z Black, projekt ma chęć zacząć wszystko od początku. I robi to płytą pełną eterycznego post-rocka wypełnionego elektroniką i epickimi dźwiękami. 

Ta atmosfera, generowana przez podniosłe klawisze, elektronikę i smyczki ma odzwierciedlenie w filozofii projektu podsumowaną słowami o "opowiadaniu historii o wciąż wolnej naturze, mówią o ich świecie stworzonym z prostych rzeczy i naturze, która je zrodziła". Zarówno to jak i muzyka Włochów podsuwa skojarzenia z twórczością new age'ową, ale ma w sobie więcej oryginalności i pewnego splendoru. Gdyby kiedyś powstała cyberpunkowa adaptacja Władcy Pierścieni, Pertegò mogliby zrobić do niej soundtrack.

Najlepiej płyta brzmi, gdy do podniosłej muzyki dochodzi bardzo profesjonalnie brzmiący wokal, co zamienia wszystko w swego rodzaju post-rock operę (np. w Cold Ballad). Najdelikatniej za to i być może najpodnioślej, Włosi brzmią w fantastycznym K.A.R.I.

Haiku Garden - Where If Not Now (2018) PL

Muzykę Haiku Garden poznałem na żywo na koncercie w Krakowie, teraz Słoweńcy wydają swój długograjacy debiut wypełniony psychodelicznym shoegaze'em wysokich lotów. Where If Not Now to godny polecenia przykład eurogaze'u i generalnie połączenia popu z mocnym uderzeniem.

Psychodelia zespołu to nie tylko genialna, pełna abstrakcji okładka płyty i wizualizacje podczas występów na żywo. To również efektowne gitarowe riffy i nieortodoksyjne rozwiązania, które wybrali muzycy. Pasuje to idealnie do przytłumionego na shoegaze'ową modłę wokalu i gitarowych ścian dźwięku mu towarzyszących. 

Nie do przecenienia jest również zróżnicowanie muzyki Słoweńców, oprócz bardzo gitarowych i przebojowych kawałków (Days, Dripping Away) znajdują się też brzmiące chyba nawet jeszcze lepiej psychodeliczne ballady (Barriers), a obie swoje natury godzą w świetnym Drifter, rozmazanej we mgle balladzie zwieńczonej tanecznym finiszem. Nic dziwnego, że zespół ma na koncie tytuł Piosenki Dnia w kultowej rozgłośni KEXP i długą europejską trasę

Haiku Garden - Where If Not Now (2018) EN

I got to know Haiku Garden's music while they had a gig in Kraków, now the Slovenians are releasing their first LP filled with psychedelic shoegaze of great quality. Where If Not Now makes an attention worthy example of eurogaze or in general, of combining pop with heavier hits.

The psychedelic part of their project is not only present in the brilliant and abstract cover art and visualizations during concerts. It is also present in the music, especially in impressive guitar riffs and non-orthodox ways the musicians chose to develop their compositions in. It matches the slightly hidden, shoegaze-style, vocal and guitar walls of sound it's accompanied with.

One can't appreciate enough also how varied their music is. Besides the more guitar and catchy tracks (Days, Dripping Away) one can also find some, probably even better sounding, psychedelic ballads (Barriers), and the two natures are combined together in the great Drifter, a fading away in haze ballad crowned with a danceable finish. No wonder that the band enjoyed having the song of the day title in the legendary KEXP radio and a long Euro concert tour.

The Mighty Avon Jnr. - Hold Everything Dear (2018) EN

Music project by the Irish artist Daragh McCarthy has finally released an album that had been created for almost 20 years (its opening track, Rapture Me Now, was released as a single in 1999). And it's wonderful news because Hold Everything Dear makes an utterly interesting composition with live instruments and poetry citing in the foreground.

Poetry is the correct word for McCarthy's lyrics. It's both intriguing and unsettling, one of my favourite fragments being certainly: "I asked you: Is that cigar smoke or teargas? You said, What’s the difference?” from Steeplejack Field Holler. From the music perspective, we deal with complex compositions in which the main part may be taken by either guitar drones (as in the monumental and absolutely beautiful Underground) or more traditional instruments, as for example trumpets.

Besides all of this, there are also other, non-obvious ideas from the multimedia artist's head: there are choir sounds (Wedding Chair), there are folk singing in the backgrounds, there are samples in Japanese (Jibutsu No Fokuroa), or a very much danceable chorus in Cobra Dear Heart. As stated here, the project makes  music that is so complex and complicated that no wonder that McCarthy calls is a "one-man band with a hundred members".

The Mighty Avon Jnr. - Hold Everything Dear (2018) PL

Projekt muzyczny irlandzkiego artysty Daragha McCarthy'ego wydaje w końcu płytę, która powstawała niemal 20 lat (otwierający ją Rapture Me Now wyszedł jako singiel w 1999 roku). I znakomicie się stało, że w końcu ją wydał, bo Hold Everything Dear tworzy nadzwyczaj interesującą kompozycję, w której na pierwszym planie znajdują się żywe instrumenty i recytowana poezja.

To właśnie poezją należy nazwać teksty głoszone przez McCarthy'ego. Jest ona intrygująca i niepokojąca, a wśród moich ulubionych fragmentów będzie z pewnością "spytałem cię: czy to dym papierosowy cy łzawiący? Odpowiedziałaś: co za różnica?" z Steeplejack Field Holler. Od strony muzycznej mamy do czynienia z kompleksowymi kompozycjami, w których prym wieść mogą zarówno gitarowe drony (w monumentalnym i pięknym Underground) jak i bardziej tradycyjne instrumenty, na przykład trąbki.

Do tego dochodzą nieoczywiste pomysły tego multimedialnego artysty: a to chóry (Wedding Chair), a to folkowe zaśpiewy w tłach, a to sample po japońsku (Jibutsu No Fokuroa), a to taneczny refren w Cobra Dear Heart. Jak widać, projekt tworzy muzykę tak złożoną i skomplikowaną, że nic dziwnego, że McCarthy nazywa go "jednoosobowym zespołem z setką członków".

SOmewhat shoegaze, somewhat post-rock, this is the music by the Texas-based quartet trauma ray. The band have just released their debut and ery much promising EP that's supposed to be "an expression of the bittersweet struggles of modern life. ". 

The Americans' track are characterized with heavy guitar sounds behind an airy haze of the vocal. It's the sound of guitars that makes their music unique as it's more related to heavier American post-rock bands than to British/Californian shoegaze. On the other hand, both the tracks' structure and the vocal makes more traditional ethereal music. It's wonderful in tracks like Relay with its rapture finish and the more epic Solstice. The album is short but also showing a lot of potential in the band's music.

Trochę shoegaze'owa, trochę post-rockowa, taka jest muzyka teksańskiego kwartetu trauma ray. Zespół wydał właśnie debiutancką i bardzo obiecującą EP-kę mającą być "wyrazem słodko-gorzkich problemów współczesnego życia".

Kawałki Amerykanów charakteryzują się ciężkimi gitarowymi dźwiękami schowanymi za eteryczną mgiełką wokalu. To właśnie brzmienie gitar powoduje ważenie unikalności muzyki trauma ray, bardziej przypominają one ciężkie, amerykańskie post-rocki niż brytyjski tudzież kalifornijski shoegaze. Natomiast zarówno budowa utworów, jak i przywołany już wokal to już typowo eteryczne granie. Znakomicie prezentuje się ono zarówno w gwałtownie zakończonym Relay jak i bardziej epickim Solstice. Płytka krótka ale pokazująca dużo potencjału zespołu.

No Gravity Shoes - Steps EP (2018) EN

They are from Poznań and are quite mysterious. They describe themselves in this way: "This band won't tell you what they play and why it's so cool. They won't explain what the next song is about and won't take you to a journey around Scandinavia". But as this is ŁŚ, I have to write something. So: on their debut EP, No Gravity Shoes included a whole spectre of genres: from shoegaze up to some instrumental post-rock.

They draw attention to the vocal that doesn't sound airy, but still produces a lot of this nostalgic atmosphere. It's more traditionally rock than shoegaze, but even in the more expressive fragments (as in Fire) won't go outside of the atmospheric territory. It is accompanied by both live instruments and rich electronic sounds. It's especially worth appreciating in the post-rock-like Outro in which the band doesn't spare effort to finish the EP in an impressive way.

Of course, bonus extra points for the references to Twin Peaks (or rather to Fire Walk With Me in Fire).

No Gravity Shoes - Steps EP (2018) PL

Są z Poznania i są tajemniczy. Na swojej stronie piszą "Ten zespół nie opowie Ci co gra i dlaczego to takie fajne. Nie wytłumaczy Ci o czym jest następna piosenka i nie zabierze Cię na wycieczkę po Skandynawii". No ale że to jest ŁŚ, coś muszę powiedzieć. A więc: na swojej debiutanckiej EP-ce No Gravity Shoes zawarli szerokie spektrum gatunków: od shoegaze'u po instrumentalny post-rock.

Uwagę przykuwa wokal nie brzmiący wcale eterycznie, a mimo wszystko roztaczający sporo nostalgicznej atmosfery. Jest bardziej tradycyjnie rockowy niż shoegaze'owy, a mimo to nawet w bardziej ekspresyjnych fragmentach (typu Fire) nie opuszcza atmosferycznego terytorium. Akompaniują mu zarówno żywe instrumenty jak i bogata elektronika. Jest to godne docenienie zwłaszcza w post-rockowym Outro, w którym zespół nie oszczędza się aby zamknąć EP-kę w efektowny sposób.

Oczywiście osobne punkty zespół dostaje za nawiązania do Twin Peaks (a raczej do Fire Walk With Me w Fire).

Carolines - Hullámokkal (2018) EN

Carolines are from Hungary and they give us a small peak into the Hungarian heavy music scene. Their new album (with a beautiful cover art) is called Hullámokkal,  meaning "with the wave" and shows some good, loud and guitar music spiced with expressive vocals.

Aggressive, but in this aggression also extremely energetic sound of the band is balanced with samples appearing from time to time, adding some post-rock/cinematic vibe to the whole thing. But still, the Hungarian's music's core is the screaming, hardcore vocal that sometimes sounds like desperate cries, sometimes like metal scream and sometimes like clean singing. But it wouldn't achieve anything alone without the very solid instrumental layer, more post-rock than punk/hardcore in the way how it is written and how complex it is. 

Not to be too monotonous, the band can also create straight post-rock tracks (M4) and more... trip-hop ones (Ember). Also, the exotic vibe in the music is provided by the Hungarian language that is not only mysterious but also very fittingly expressive.

Hullámokkal can be yours for whatever you want to pay.

Carolines - Hullámokkal (2018) PL

Carolines są z Węgier i dają nam mały wgląd w węgierską scenę muzyki ciężkiej. Ich nowa płyta (z pięknym cover artem) nazywa się Hullámokkal,  co znaczy tyle co "z falą" i pokazuje dobre, głośne, gitarowe granie okraszone ekspresyjnym wokalem.

Agresywne, ale w tej agresji również niezwykle energetyczne brzmienie zespołu równoważą pojawiające się od czasu do czasu sample, nadające całości bardziej post-rockowo/kinowego charakteru. Niemniej, rdzeniem muzyki Węgrów jest wrzaskliwy, hardcore'owy wokal raz brzmiący jak desperackie okrzyki, raz jak metalowy scream, a czasem nawet jak czysty śpiew. Niczego by jednak sam nie osiągnął gdyby nie solidna warstwa instrumentalna, bardziej post-rockowa w sposobie, w jaki jest napisana i złożona, niż punkowo-hardcore'owa.

Żeby nie było jednak jednostajnie, Węgrzy potrafią robić zarówno stricte post-rockowe kawałki (M4) jak i... trip-hopowe (Ember). Za egzotykę w muzyce Carolines robi język węgierski, brzmiący nie tylko zagadkowo, ale i właściwie dla tak ekspresyjnej muzyki.

Hullámokkal można mieć za ile się chce.

Ruby Haunt - Blue Hour (2018) EN

One and a half year from releasing Nevada, Ruby Haunt are back with a long play album and they make the comeback in a great style. The Wyatt Ininns - Victor Pakpour duet serve us an incredibly atmospheric album combining all the most ethereal sides of shoegaze, dream pop i electronic music. What more do you need in autumn?

Already the introduction in Sucker makes the fittingly nostalgic and airy at the same time welcoming call, and it only gets better. Darling makes probably my favourite track by the Californians: wonderfully delicate vocal and almost ridiculously airy music with the bass line as its only aspect that stands out - this is this subtle and atmospheric dream pop.

It's definitely not the only track that is worth attention on this very balanced album: Non Sense has a breathtakingly airy finish, Demon a dreamy melody, and It Will Happen the Next Time Around filed with fantastic synths. The whole album has so much magic a the "blue hour" from the title, the time just after sunset when the world seems to be less real than usually.

Już intro w Sucker nastraja odpowiednio nostalgicznie i eterycznie jednocześnie, a potem jest tylko lepiej. Darling to prawdopodobnie mój ulubieniec spośród utworów Kalifornijczyków: znakomicie delikatny wokal i niemal do przesady wręcz eteryczna muzyka zespołu, z linią basu jako jedynym wybijającym się jej aspektem - taki to delikatny i nastrojowy dream pop.

To zdecydowanie nie jedyny warty uwagi kawałek na tej bardzo równej płycie: Non Sense ma zachwycająco oniryczną końcówkę, Demon jest sennie melodyjny, a It Will Happen the Next Time Around wypełniony fantastycznymi syntezatorami. Cała płyta natomiast ma w sobie tyle magii, co tytułowa "blue hour", czas po zachodzi słońca, kiedy świat jest trochę mniej realny niż na ogół.

kj - ex (2018) EN

Ambient-slash-neoclassical beauty that came form US by Russia. kj rothweiler is an artist releasing at the Moscow-based Dronarium, whose new album ex makes use of many already well-known electronic music ways of creation, but it still sounds like a unique work of art.

In his music, kj explores the process of ruminating, obsessive coming back to events and people from the past and he does that in the most clever way possible, by creating short phrases that are looped so they echo for long, beautiful minutes, just like thoughts do in the mind's maze of memory (as in caro). Enough said. But when he does not create the beauty with keys, he does so with ambient noise relating to less pretty side of melancholy (in ex) or with gloomy strings, together with Aaron Martin (in foxes).

Ambientowo-neoklasyczne piękno ze Stanów przez Rosję. kj rothweiler to artysta wydający w moskiewskim Dronarium, którego nowa płyta ex stosuje wiele zabiegów znanych z elektronicznej, łagodnej muzyki, a jednak jest w pewnym sensie unikalny.

W swojej muzyce, kj eksploruje uczucie ruminowania, powracania myślami do wydarzeń i osób z przeszłości, a robi to w najsprytniejszy ze sposobów: stosując powtarzające się króciutkie frazy, zapętlające się w umyśle jak labirynt pamięci i zdarzeń (tak jak w caro). Nic dodać, nic ująć. Gdy nie tworzy piękna za pomocą klawiszy, robi to ambientowym noisem odnosząc się do bardziej niebezpiecznej strony melancholii (w ex), albo na ponurych smyczkach razem z Aaronem Martinem (w foxes).

To niemal filmowa historia: Alex i Clara spotkali się w Japonii, a po powrocie do Stanów odkryli, że chęć do tworzenia razem muzyki jest silniejsza niż geografia (a mieszkają na stałe na zupełnie przeciwnych krańcach Ameryki). I tak narodziło się Galaxy Fingers i ich debiutancka EP-ka Let in Elijah.

Ich muzyka to hołd dla popowej strony dream popu: bezpretensjonalne kawałki pełne radości z tworzenia muzyki oraz łagodnej, leniwej atmosfery. Zderzenie ciepłego, szepczącego wokalu Aleksa i bedroom popowego Clary to szkielet ich muzyki. A do tego lo-fi'owa muzyka i lekkie melodie to fantastyczny przepis na weekendową, relaksującą muzykę.

A ta potrafi też się zbiesić. Wystarczy wsłuchać się w Hugs When You're Anxious i tę, oczywiście, znerwicowaną końcówkę. Bardzo miła niespodzianka, zrywająca nieco ze nostalgiczną słodyczą reszty płyty.

Galaxy Fingers - Let In Elijah EP (2018) EN

It's almost a movie story: Alex and Clara met in Japan and after coming back to States, they found out that their urge to create music together is greater than geography (they live on two opposite sides of US). And so Galaxy Fingers were born together with their debut EP called Let in Elijah.

Their music is a tribute to the pop face of dream pop: genuine tracks filled with the happiness that comes from making music and with the delicate, lazy atmosphere. The combination of Alex's warm, whispering vocal and Clara's bedroom pop-ish one makes the core of their music. Together with the lo-fi music and light melodies create a fantastic recipe for some relaxing weekend music.

But they still are able to go rouge. Just listen to Hugs When You're Anxious and its, obviously, nervous finish. A pleasant surprise, changing the overall sweet mood of the album.

Sondrous - Something Like Serenity (2018) EN

Sondrous is only a duet made of Gideon Lamprecht and Jaimie Hull from RSA. I'm writing "only" because their music sounds so complexly and otherworldly that it can be hardly believed that it's created by two people only. Their debut called Something Like Serenity is filled with a unique atmosphere that can't be described by words.

To say that Soundrous make dream pop or shoegaze is a terrible understatement. Their music incorporates also elements of ambient, epic post-rock, relaxing music, acoustic music, psychedelic music, dark music... Everything is already visible in the title track Something Like Serenity, this combination of delicate sounds of guitar strings and double airy vocal with elevated fragments in which the soul of the most bombastic post-rock music echoes together with vocals sounding like choirs of ghosts. This is Sondrous.

The most important though is that the synth passages in You Are The Cosmos, delicate backing vocals in Shelter, post-rock might in In Purity, everything makes a coherent, well-thought-through whole, although creating the album from to the release took only five months. This makes Something Like Serenity one of the best albums of the year in my personal ranks.

Sondrous - Something Like Serenity (2018) PL

Sondrous to tylko duet Gideona Lamprechta i Jaimie Hull z RPA. Piszę tylko bo ich muzyka brzmi tak kompleksowo i nieziemsko, że to niemal nie do uwierzenia, ze stoi za nią jedynie ta dwójka. Ich debiut Something Like Serenity wypełniony jest niezwykłą atmosferą, którą trudno w ogóle wyrazić w słowach.

Powiedzieć, że Sondrous tworzą dream pop albo shoegaze to niedomówienie. Ich muzyka zawiera w sobie również elementy ambientu, epickiego post-rocka, muzyki relaksacyjnej, akustycznej, psychodelicznej, mrocznej. Wszystko to widoczne jest już w tytułowym Something Like Serenity, ta kombinacja delikatnych dźwięków gitarowych strun i eterycznego do kwadratu wokalu z podniosłymi fragmentami, w których pobrzmiewa dusza najbardziej bombastycznych kawałków post-rockowych, i w których wokale brzmią niczym chóry duchów, to właśnie jest Sondrous.

Najważniejsze jest jednak to, że synthowe ambientowe pasaże w You Are The Cosmos, delikatne chóry w Shelter, post-rockowa siła w In Purity, wszystko to tworzy spójną, przemyślaną całość, mimo że od napisania do wydania albumu ubyło jedynie pięć miesięcy. Dzięki temu Something Like Serenity znajduje się w mojej osobistej czołówce tegorocznych albumów.

Hug - Sensitive & Tired (2018) EN

If anybody wonders what the title of the Californians' album is about, the answer is easy. The band consists of four young people, who describe themselves as "sensitive and tired"and "looking to wrap you in a fuzz filled reverb coated hug". Nothing more has to be added.

Their debut EP is made of four fast, in a really punk way, tracks and a longer one. There's a lot of the garage shoegaze vibe in them, the lo-fi noise created by a group of friends who make music. The vocal is light and airy at the same time, guitars heavy and deafening, plus some use of clear and fast drums and impressive electronic effects (in a great Dream). Also, it's clear that the band is able to play both faster ethereal music and slower, more atmospheric one in the single Pet Hotel.

Jeśli ktoś się zastanawia o kim jest tytuł albumu Kalifornijczyków z Hug, odpowiedź jest prosta. Zespół to czwórka młodych ludzi, którzy są "delikatni i zmęczeni" i którzy "chcą objąć cię wypełnionym szumem i pokrytym reverbami uściskiem". Nic dodać nic ująć.

Ich debiutancka EP-ka to cztery szybciutkie, w punkowy sposób zwięzłe, kawałki i jeden trochę dłuższy. Jest w nich dusza garażowego shoegaze'u, lo-fi'owego hałasu grupy przyjaciół tworzących muzykę. Wokal jest lekki i jednocześnie eteryczny, gitary ciężkie i ogłuszające, a do tego szybka miejscami perkusja i efektowna elektronika (w znakomitym Dream). W dodatku widać, że zespół potrafi grać zarówno szybszą eteryczną muzykę jak i wolniejszą, bardziej atmosferyczną w singlowym Pet Hotel.

Sensitive & Tired można mieć, za ile się chce.

Future Usses - The Existential Hunting (2018) EN

The Existential Hunting in theory is the debut album by the Californians, but the band consists of experienced musicians led by Sacha Dunable who played in projects such as Intronaut or Bereft. Their first album is filled with heavy, masculine post-rock, amplifying the styles of the aforementioned bands.

From the beginning of the album we are being attacked by heavy, tearing , but also slow sounds. It was really well said in the album's promo materials that they are: "combining the slow-motion crushing power of doom with the atmosphere and dense harmonic tendencies of Intronaut". The pace doesn't change a lot whether it is the monstrous, long-distance What Is Anything, or shorter and more intense pieces such as Absolute Zero.

It gets more psychedelic in Make Flowers. Besides the cut in half flow of the music, the band give us their unclear, ridiculously distorted vocal (I guess it's vocal) sounding as if taken straight out of a horror movie, and it fits so well. That's why it's a shame that it's only a one time experiment as the band soon comes back to their already established, still very good, rhythm.

Future Usses - The Existential Hunting (2018) PL

The Existential Hunting jest nominalnie debiutem Kalifornijczyków, jednak zespół składa się z doswiadczonych muzyków, a jego lider Sacha Dunable grał w takich zespołach jak Intronaut, czy Bereft. Ich pierwsza wspólna płyta wypełniona jest twardym, męskim post-rockiem, powielając i powiększając style wspomnianych zespołów.

Od samego początku płyty atakują nas ciężkie, szarpiące, ale też powolne gitarowe dźwięki. Bardzo trafnie ujęto to w promo płyty pisząc o "łączeniu miażdżącej siły doomu ujętej w slow-motion z atmosferą i gęstymi harmonicznymi tendencjami Intronaut". Tempo niewiele się zmienia , czy to w monstrualnym, długo rozwijającym się What Is Anything, czy w krótszych i bardziej intensywnych kawałkach jak Absolute Zero.

Bardziej psychodelicznie robi się w Make Flowers. Poza pozrywanymi melodiami zespół prezentuje mało czytelny, absurdalnie zniekształcony wokal (raczej wokal) brzmiący jak wyjęty z horroru, co pasuje do zespołu wyśmienicie. Tym bardziej szkoda, że to tylko jednorazowy eksperyment, a muzyka zespołu wraca po chwili do swojego wcześniejszego, wciąż niezwykle interesującego zresztą, rytmu.

Cash - The Sounds My Heart Makes EP (2018) EN

Cash is still teenager but the scale of his talent is incredible. The young Hindu creates a mixture of ambient, neoclassic music and post-rock, and the amount of soul he puts into his creations can hardly be imagined. You can try by checking is new EP, The Sounds My Heart Makes.

This album evolves while being listen to. Start with ambient and a little bit industrial Distant, just to turn into neoclassical music with ambient core in Reverie. Cash says that his music consists of "simple, downtempo piano melodies that go towards more of a shoegaze or an atmospheric production or sometimes into more of a relaxing, minimal piece", it's best heard in the beautiful Glisten. He may have forgotten about post-rock as some of the pieces (Reverie, Serenade)  develops into some great guitar music in their finishing parts.

Cash's music is both atmospheric and eclectic. No wonder that among his inspirations are both deadmau5 and Chopin.

Cash jest wciąż jeszcze nastolatkiem, ale skala jego talentu powala. Młody Hindus tworzy mieszankę ambientu, neoklasyki i post-rocka, a to, jak wiele duszy wkłada w swoją muzykę, nie da się ogarnąć rozumem. Sprawdzić można na nowej EP-ce The Sounds My Heart Makes.

Ta pyta ewoluuje podczas odtwarzania. Zaczyna się ambientowym, nieco industrialnym Distant, po to by wraz z Reverie zamienić się w neoklasykę o ambientowej duszy. Cash mówi o swojej muzyce, że składa się z "prostych, powolnych melodii na pianine, raz zmierzających bardziej w stronę atmosferycznego shoegaze'u, a raz medytacyjnego ambientu", najlepiej słychać to w pięknym Glisten. Zapomniał chyba dodać do tego post-rocka bo kilka kawałków (Reverie, Serenade) zamienia się w finale w gitarowe granie pełną gębą.

Muzyka Casha jest tak atmosferyczna jak i eklektyczna. Nic dziwnego, że wśród inspiracji wymienia zarówno deadmau5a jak i Chopina.

Mainlight - Daydream EP (2018) EN

Mainlight are from Ukraine and on their debut EP, they show some very impressive and professional shoegaze. Daydream is a feast for anyone loving atmospheric guitar music drowned in airy mood.

The thing that catches most of attention is the super airy vocal that together with clear but not overwhelming guitars gives what we like in shoegaze most. Their music has this 90s' classics vibe but at the same time, the guitar layer may be more likely compared to some heavier stuff (like for example the one from their compatriots from Somali Yacht Club) multiplying the contrast against the delicate vocal.

The most impressive work on the album is Your Eyes, a track that takes it time to develop, but when it does, its finish i very cool and very loud, same as in the album's last Cold Star. Mainlight's music makes a real bomb sprinkled with some airy nostalgia, nothing much to say.

"Daydream" can be yours for whatever you want to pay.

Mainlight - Daydream EP (2018) PL

Mainlight są z Ukrainy i na swojej debiutanckiej EP-ce pokazują bardzo dojrzały i efektowny shoegaze. Daydream to uczta dla lubiących atmosferyczne gitarowe granie pławiące się w eterycznej atmosferze.

Na uwagę zwraca przede wszystkim ultra eteryczny wokal, co w połączeniu z wyraźnymi, chociaż nie przytłaczającymi gitarami daje to, co lubimy w shoegaze'ie najbardziej. Muzyka zespołu ma ten vibe charakterystyczny dla klasyków gatunku z lat 90., jednak warstwa gitarowa często bardziej przypomina bardziej ciężkie granie (chociażby innych Ukraińców z Somali Yacht Club) zwielokrotniające kontrast wobec delikatnego wokalu.

Najefektowniej brzmi Your Eyes, utwór, w którym zespół daje sobie czas by się rozkręcić i kończy całość efektownym i bardzo głośnym finiszem, podobnie jak w zamykającym płytę Cold Star. Muzyka Mainlight to porządne depnięcie okraszone eteryczną nostalgią, nic dodać, nic ująć.

"Daydream" można mieć za ile się chce.
