Józef, in reality Józef Buchnajzer, is known to the blog's readers as half of the józef, zofia duo and a co-leader of the Ciche Nagrania label. This time the Poznań-based musician shows his almost-pop side thanks to the short EP Bycie z kłopotami ("Being with troubles").
"Pop" is obviously a stretch, Józef creates very lo-fi bedroom ambient with vocals in which the most important thing is the lyrics. The latter entertain and make almost cry with the omnipresent plays on words (as the chorus of Kwitnie bez ("Elderberry blossoms"). That makes the artist sound like Król, another Polish musician, would if he created some really off music, not just one to be heard on radio.
Still, it doesn't mean that Józef's songs are not catchy, quite opposite, just listen to the album's best track Zdjęcie z wakacji ("A holiday picture").
