Another comeback to the blog. This time it's Krzysztof Sujata and his ambient alter ego Valiska. The Canadian has recently released an EP called Numbers proving his great talent.
The central idea of this album are numbers, but not just any numbers - the artist is inspired by the Numbers Station, a mysterious radio broadcast sending undecipherable messages since the Great War. Sujata treats it as a metaphor of the modern world where any information can easily get lost in the background noise. Apart from the album's title and the cover art, this inspiration is quite literally audible in the most impressing first track. It's opened with a sample with the recited numbers and this leitmotif goes on during the whole album (also in Polish in the last track). And it's complimented with the very slow, nostalgic but also very much diverse beautiful ambient music.
