San Carol - Houdini (2018) EN

The Frenchmen of San Carol marked their presence on this blog not so long ago with their single Cancer and now they are ready to show the whole new material on their phenomenal album Houdini. There's no exaggeration in my words as their LP is going to be one of the best album of the European broadly taken psychedelia this year, amen.

Led by Maxime Dobosz, the artist with a nicely Polish sounding surname, the band looked for their sound throughout a range of releases: from their o-fi electro album La Main Invisible, through hardcore rock Humain Trop Humain up to this year's unorthodox and not straightforward Houdini.  This vaguely established genre is the strong side of the Frenchmen's music, rich compositions, brilliant melodies and atmosphere together with Dobosz's experimental approach towards music make me want to congratulate on the path's choice.

I can't point to one best song of this album. The whole thing is drowned in loud guitars and fascinating music choices: from the noise-ending hit Where My Parent Live, to the ballad Turn To Dust to the wonderfully catchy Cancer. This album has many faces and all of them are of the best quality.

Houdini costs 8 EUR.
