WHOLE - BIAS (2018) EN

Whole is yet another incarnation of Alexander Donat (Vlimmer), this time the artist known very well for the blog's readers joins forces with Thomas Schernikau known from De/Vision or Forced To Mode. Those gentlemen's aim is to join the ethereal and synthwave worlds.

These are the two music genres dominating the album - the vocals sometimes sound more post-punk-ishly decisive and sometimes more dreamy. And it sounds great with the background made of dense synth and electronic sounds with some of the industrial tone to them. But the thing that really catches attention are the brilliant melodies, so catchy that they make you hum the songs immediately, although you don't know the lyrics. It's even hard to decide which one to recommended, they are so many.

The leitmotif of the album is the phenomenon of bias, favouring something instead of something else. As the artists describe it: "[love] is only intact as long as the moment sustains through a unique connection. If it is interrupted, the bias takes the upper hand. Events already experienced influence or even hinder one’s future and let the self-image crumble in the present". Deep and served in exceptionally attractive synthwave-dreamy form.

BIAS costs 5 EUR.
