Palmer Eldritch - Sidereal (2018) EN

Palmer Eldritch is the main character of the classic Philip K. Dick's novel "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch", quite surprisingly, it is also the name of the duet made of Rafał Samborski and Piotrek Markowicz. They are from Kraków although on their FB account, there is a note that they come from Alpha Centauri (where the book's Eldritch journeyed to, there's no coincidence here), what really is more suitable for their space electronic sounds.

When establishing the project, they want to "resurrect the idea of trip-rock, remind post-rock and get hip-hop involved", apparently when creating "Sidereal", they decided to add some Middle East folk to this blending and it turned out perfect. This characteristic rhythm and Arabic-like female vocal contortions are first to catch the audience's attention. The accompanying electronics and live instruments create together a unique exotic-flavoured trip-hop atmosphere that would make Massive attack interested in (especially in "Control" featuring Lena Osińska known from one of the Polish talent shows).

Some livelier electronics start appearing from "Stop Being Yourself", from this moment, the musicians look towards dance floor more often and they do so up to the last "Life of Trees", dedicated to everyone who didn't like the trees (it's a hint at the political situation in Poland). It's worth mentioning that the cover art was co-produced by Belanorqua, a couple of brilliant artists from Kraków whose works I definitely recommend.

"Sidereal" can be yours for whatever you want to pay.
