Besides' new album is heavily commented on in the Polish media, mostly because the band bravely decided to tell the story of the nightmare of the Auschwitz German death camp with guitar post-rock. And they did really well. You can hear that on the concept album called Bystanders.
It is filled with heavy and melancholic atmosphere. It is due to the heavy guitars and not-hasty compositions that still systematically lead to loud closures. They also can be chaotic, unnerving and scary (as in the single track Ich bin wieder da!). The melancholic part is on the other hand the realm of Daria Pacuda and the string quartet. That's why the guitar post-rock from the previous albums of the band gained some extra dimension and huge dose of the gloomy, but also beautiful in this gloominess, atmosphere.
Let's add also beautiful and subtle keys in Last Lullaby and we can safely say that we deal with some high-level post-rock here. That gains even more by the relation to the horror of the victims of the war.
Bystanders costs 6 EUR (25 PLN).
