Sana Obruent - Dyatlov (2017) EN

You could say that there's no more distant places than sunny California and snowy Ural mountains. But there is Sana Obruent, a project by Paul Lopez, an entity that can travel the distance between them with speed, grace and petrifying unease.

The album tells the story of the Dyatlov Passage tragedy in the Ural mountains in 1959, in which nine explorers died. It is covered with the veil of mystery since the victims were experienced scientists but they were forced by something to leave their camp with no preparations, tearing their way out of their tents. Apart from the music and the titles, the story is told by each track separate cover made of original picture from the expedition.

The California-based project delivers the story with minimalistic, dark ambient sounding exactly like snowy desolation of the Ural but at the same time, when it comes to an end, you can't shake off the feeling that something very important has just ended and the loss is almost tangible.

"Dyatlov" is available for 7 USD.
