Teller - Strive Recess Echo (2017) EN

It seems that this year, a week without some Swedish post-rock is a week lost. Teller is created by musicians from Göteborg and they are not just some musicians, they have experience in playing in bands like EF and The Shilloh. Now, this time as Teller, they have released their first LP although the way to do that was long and included lots of searching for their own unique sound. But you should say that they managed.

The album is opened with "Baton Rouge" that surprises with rather not-very-loud approach to guitar instrumental music. The band is more focused on precise melodies, nice riffs, and the pace built on clear and rhythmical drums. The following tracks are kept in similar tone but they can also be much louder (starting from the middle part of "The Wary and Watchful") and, very often, distinctive, rock-ish riffs

A particularly unique effect is reached by using trumpet, especially in those more mournful fragments of "Floods", they give the whole project another dimension. But apart from that, the thing that is the most awe-inspiring, are the milder parts smelling like melancholia, just like Scandinavian winds.

"Strive Recess Echo" costs 5 EUR.
