Grzegorz Bojanek - Stories of an Old Man (2017) EN

Polish noise ambient? That's my tune! Grzegorz Bojanek, known also as Eta Carinae, is a producent connected with Warsaw Electronic Festival. In his music, Bojanek combines some of the ingredients of what I call artistically complex ambient. Alongside electronic soundscapes he creates delicate noise/drone that makes his works sound like old vinyls that remember the times of Ella Fitzgerald (and it's noticeable from the very first track, "The History of Mining Industry...").

He uses also what is called field recordings. But I must say these are the things I miss in the album the most. The album is clearly conceptual, both cover art and track titles and the music itself suggest that it is about the world from long ago as seen from an old man's perspective. And yet there's no such memories entangled anywhere in the music, perhaps it would be too straightforward. After all, everyone can think of their Grandparents' stories and play Bojanek's works to accompany them.

Disclaimer after reading everything thoroughly: the album was created as an OST to an audiobook so it could hardly involve any recordings. So it's even more satisfactory.

"Stories..." is available for 7 USD.
