Nagrobki - Granit (2017) EN

Nagrobki - one of the best known unknown Polish bands, many have written about this band, usually in more nobile places than this blog. But the only band I know that plays nekropolo (a play on words relating to the worst Polish music genre - discopolo) have just released the (probably) best Polish album of this year and I couldn't just turn a blind eye on this fact. Perhaps there's someone who doesn't know Nagrobki?

Just like on their debut CD, the Tricity band honour their name (nagrobki = tombstones) and create music about the only one topic. The most important. About death. Again, they invested in catchy melodies and dynamite-like compositions a'la good old punk (although they don't like this label) enriched with trumpets provided by Olo Walicki himself. But unlikely on "Stan prac" together with fast songs (my favourite "Kolejny rok w urnie" or "To był tylko cień" - a direct continuation of their od hit "Na śmierć zapomniałem") there are also well composed and full of unique distressing atmosphere tracks with slow pace and amazing mood ("Matka jedyna", "Nekropolo").

The cover art is also really worth checking out. Same goes for their concerts (unfortunately only in Poland so far...).

"Granit" ges for 7 EUR (28 PLN).
