Ambient Punks - Seasons EP (2020) PL

Ambient Punks to duet japońskich artystów Taro Shimanouchiego i Masatomo "Vari" Komakine. Ich nowa EP-ka to znakomite połączenie elektronicznego ambientu i neoklasyki.

Ich motto jasno wyjaśnia nazwę projektu: "Ambientowa muzyka + Punkowe nastawienie". Zacny pomysł, chociaż osobiście nie widzę tego w muzyce. Wydana w lutym EP-ka zawiera naturalnie cztery kawałki, każdy poświęcony jednej porze roku. Każdy łączy kompozycje na pianino z ambientową elektroniką w tle. Czasem są to sample wzięte z mediów (Haru, wiosna po japońsku), czasem niepokojące szumy (Summer Daze). Najlepiej to połączenie brzmi chyba w Autumn Steps, gdzie pianino niejako odpowiada na zaloopowane sample w tłach.

Ambient Punks - Seasons EP (2020) EN

Ambient Punks is a duo of Japanese artists Taro Shimanouchi and Masatomo "Vari" Komakine. Their new EP makes a wonderful mixture of electronic ambient and neoclassicism.

Their catch phrase undoubtedly explains the project's name: "Ambient Music + Punks Attitude". Great idea, although personally, I don't see it much in their music. The February EP includes obviously four tracks, each devoted to one of the seasons. Each of them draws from both piano compositions and ambient electronics in the backgrounds. Sometimes it's media-sourced samples (Haru, Japanese for spring), sometimes unnerving buzz (Summer Daze). This mixture bes sounds probably in Autumn Steps, in which the piano somewhat responds to the looped samples in the ambiance.
