The Meeting Places is a band that is now in the middle of a spectacular comeback. After releasing two albums at the beginning of this century they have been silent (only a live split album with Maximilian Hecker) to show a new album only now. And it's better late than never as the album released by Saint Marie Records and called You and I shows that the Californians have much to offer.
Their music is made of extremely loud, almost nerve-wrecking guitar sounds and very detached vocals. You can safely say it's very often noise rock stylized as shoegaze, but the labels don't matter. The important thing is that the elements fit together and manage to touch something in the soul. Seemingly light melodies are in this way corrupted and, as usual in shoegaze, this juxtaposition is the moving force of the whole music. The Meeting Places made it their characteristic sight so we can only wait for new albums.
