Superdone - ▽ (2021)

It seems that a year on that blog is not complete without posting about the British band Superdrone. I did so about The Creation in 2019 and Solargaze last year and the artists get better and better so I can't really stop. 2021's mysteriously entitled ▽ brings the best from ethereal space rock out there.

The band's sound's specialty is the smooth, mesmerizing synths that make the audience go deeper and deeper this sonic world without even realizing. This is complimented with space rock attributes like the ethereal vocals and psychedelic vibes in their compositions, as well as, and that's not an obvious thing, being melodic and extremely catchy. There's a few songs here you can instantly catch up on, one being We Are One with its slightly retro form and dreamy atmosphere or the surprisingly synthpop-like Morning Light that really stands out within the atmosphere of the album.

The clue of the album, however, lies in its ability to create trance-worthy, mesmerizing compositions of the most psychedelic, even if toned down with the dreamy atmosphere, quality like Sperisphere for example or the ethereal blizzard of Eternala. And those craziness- and mood-rich storms are what you should reach for the album for.

Anglicy z Superdrone pojawili się już na moim blogu w zeszłym roku z EP-ką The Creation. Zespół jak zwykle podkreśla swoją wyjątkowość i jakość swojej psychodelicznej muzyki. Trudno z tym dyskutować bo właśnie ona broni się znakomicie. Czas więc posłuchać Solargaze.

Ekscytujący i ekstatyczny dream pop, tak należałoby określić twórczość zespołu. Z jednej strony niezaprzeczalna dawka oniryzmu, gęsta atmosfera i przygaszone wokale, z drugiej żwawe tempo i nawał synthów. Właśnie one odpowiadają za podniebne loty muzyki Superdrone, wprawiają one słuchaczy w ekstatyczną hipnozę, z której ciężko się otrząsnąć, przyjmując, że ktoś w ogóle by chciał to robić. Znakomicie te przeżycia oddaje też szata graficzna wydawnictwa i sam tytuł, widać, że zespół ma na siebie pomysł.

I wykonanie też dobre. A takie kawałki jak Face Me Away, Cellar Door czy ekspresyjny finał w Today sprawiają, że chce się zarówno tańczyć jak i przeżywać.

The English artists of Superdrone appeared on my blog already last year with an EP called The Creation. As always, the band emphasize their uniqueness and the quality of their psychedelic music. It's difficult to question this as the music speaks for itself. It's time to listen to Solargaze.

Exciting and ecstatic dream pop, this is how you should call the band's works. On one hand a dose of oneirism that can't be denied with the dense atmosphere and withdrawn vocals, on the other, the lively pace and a storm of synths. They are the ones that are responsible for the sky-is-the-limit music of Superdrone, they lead the audience to the ecstatic hypnosis that is difficult to shake off if anyone even wanted to do so. Those experiences are perfectly depicted in the graphic side of the release as well as in the title itself, it's clear that the band know what they want to do.

And the execution is good as well. And so tracks like Face Me Away, Cellar Door ot the expressive finish in Today make the listener want to dance and experience at the same time.

Superdrone - The Creation (2019) EN

The English band Superdrone regularly releases new material since 2017 but I got really onto their last EP called The Creation. 

The Englishmen prove to have a lot of imagination to write about their music for instance those words: "The songs are scientifically altered and structured to make you feel as though you are on some kind of groovy experimental medication". Inspired by the early Verve and Jesus and Mary Chain artists are not shy to show those inspirations. Their music sounds as if it was created from the beginning to the end during the golden era of the psychedelic shoegaze - dispersed but absolutely catchy vocals, non-obvious guitar backgrounds and this oneiric energy of the shoegazing pop, this combination always sounds good. The most interestingly so probably in Freedom, a track developing into looped, mesmerizing psychedelia with clear Spiritualized vibes.

Angielski zespół Superdrone od 2017 roku regularnie wydaje kolejne płyty, a mi w oko wpadła ich ostatnia EP-ka zatytułowana The Creation. 

Anglicy mają sporo wyobraźni pisząc o swojej muzyce między innymi "piosenki są przetworzone naukowo i ustrukturyzowane tak byście mogli się poczuć jak na jakimś dziwacznym eksperymentalnym leku". Inspirujący się wczesnym Verve i Jesus and Mary Chain artyści wcale tych inspiracji nie kryją. Ich muzyka od początku do końca brzmi jakby była tworzona w złotej erze psychodelicznego shoegaze'u - rozproszony ale wcale przebojowy wokal, nieoczywiste gitarowe tła i ta oniryczna energia shoegaze'owego popu, to zawsze dobrze brzmi. Najciekawiej wygląda na niej chyba kawałek Freedom rozwijający się w stronę zapętlonej, hipnotyzującej psychodelki na modłę chociażby Spiritualized.
