Black Flak and the Nightmare Fighters is "4 guys jamming the night away, making solid music and looking to put on a good show" from Salt Lake City. Their night jamming resulted in some great instrumental music you can check out on their new album It's Only Permanent.
On their second album, the Americans deal with topics close to each of us: the inner struggles of a human being. But they don't like talking about themselves or about their music's sense, they believe in that when you listen to the music close enough, you'll understand everything. The band's instrumental works are based on what's best in post-rock: clear guitars, epic sounding drums and diverse compositions. And, what's extremely important here, on the atmosphere.
It is greatly influenced by the omnipresent, unsettling samples (sounding fantastic especially in F41.0), but still the most important aspect is the ever-changing pace. The band's music can within seconds go from slow depression to crushing tempest (as in the brilliant Clustercuss) or just stay withing the depths of sadness (in You're Gonna Carry That Weight).
