Transmission Zero - Yes. And I Would Do It Again (2026)

Transmission Zero is a band I grew extremely attached to over the years. Hailing from the city I live in, they were the first local post-rock outfit I knew and decided to support. Even if the band has changed immensely since then, the feelings stayed. And I'm very happy to say that their third album proves their versatile ability to create immersive post-rock compositions. And also angry ones.

Local Hero that opens the album is a somewhat misleading track: it is slower, built on the atmosphere and the Poles quickly state that this time, it's not the case. The Kids' Gloves Are Off are such a perfect single track: the composition is not easy, meanders from rapid cascades into slower fragments and back, but the first thought that brings to your mind is "how a post-rock song can have such a punk energy?!" And when I look at the cover art and the whole visual identification around the album, I can see this again: the subtle post-rock aesthetics is replaced with shouting, bright-colored, California punk-rock like images. I see it and I hear it. Something's changed.

The frantic drums at No Such Thing as a Fair Fight or the incredible flow of A Devil You Do further prove the way the artists chose to follow from now on. No wonder the band themselves state the following: "This might be our third record, but it feels like a >second debut< for us". And finally, the titles themselves suggest that Transmission Zero are rebelling against the society, the human nature and, I guess, against being ashamed of anything you've done and you feel proud about. Cheers to that!

Yes. And I Would Do It Again costs 9 EUR.

Transmission Zero - Bridges (2021)

One of the best Polish post-rock bands of the new generation has officially matured by releasing their second album. After the brilliant debut with the self-titled release in 2019, the Kraków-based trio follow up with at least as good Bridges.

The title's bridges are a good metaphor here, as the band combines the real, down-to-earth sound of guitars with sci-fi leitmotifs with the spacious, hard-to-comprehend atmosphere in the first place. The beautiful video for Still No Sign shows this well too: the familiar landscapes of the reality around us are contrasted here with a man out of this world, maybe a time traveler, a dreamer who waits for a sign to... It's not certain to what, but it doesn't matter as, the title suggests it, there's no sign whatsoever. Still, the music may be one of the bridges to cross from the real to the dream, is it a risky interpretation? I don't think so, post-rock is always considered an escapist music genre.

As they are known for already, the band creates some involving and impressive compositions on the new album. Most of the take their time to fully develop from rather peaceful, slower passages towards noisy crescendos to finish with. There are some nervous moments of anticipation (like the end of A Piece of Home) but everything ends in the most satisfying way in the title track Bridges. I love it that the guys from my city are able to create such a good post-rock music and are acknowledged by some of the genre's prominent media.

Bridges costs 5 EUR.

Transmission Zero - Transmission Zero (2019) EN

I've been observing the band supporting other post-rock artists on the scenes of my city for a long time now and I always knew they have something special in them. But they couldn't show it to the broader audience (except for the not-so-good live album from the Piękny Pies Club). But it has finally changed as just after the single Illusion of Coincidence they showed their debut album.

Transmission Zero is a band that strives to find the perfect balance between the impressive and melodic post-rock and atmospheric guitar music. It's awesome that they managed to translate their gigs' energy and atmosphere on studio recordings. You can easily feel the power and the massiveness of the guitar sounds of theirs. Essentially, each of the tracks is a goo, by-the-book post-rock composition played live for a long time and thus well polished and thought-through. The tracks that caught my attention are the opener in Vostok 0, single song Illusion of Coincidence and awe inspiring and very noisy finish in Transgression.

Transmission Zero costs 5 EUR (20 PLN).

Transmission Zero - Transmission Zero (2019) PL

Zwraca uwagę otwierający album Vostok 0, singlowy Illusion of Coincidence i efektowny i hałaśliwy finisz w Transgression.

Transmission Zero kosztuje 20 złotych.
