Drawing The Endless Shore - Drama (2017) EN

Sergey Lunev, known also as The Best Pessimist, comes back with new album, this time coming also back to Drawing The Endless Shore. This project shows his second face, this less of ambient-post-rock and more of trip-hop freedom and idm's love for beats.

Still though, it's difficult to call "Drama" an album without a unique atmosphere. It's enough to listen to the piano keys background in "Negative" or really moody middle part of "Archetype" to get some of it. On the other hand, there's just enough of electronic "obstacles", backgrounds and various beats creating the trip-hop structure that are made with live (or half-live) drums.

There's also some of the ambient, autumn-melancholic atmosphere that crawls from under the shiny  electronics' spotlights from time to time, especially in my favourite "The Caretaker". Nevertheless, it's one of the most dance-able propositions on my blog this year. Until tomorrow.

Siergiej Łunew, znany jako The Best Pessimist, powraca z nową płytą, tym razem wraca też do Drawing The Endless Shore. Ten projekt pokazuje drugą twarz Łunewa, tę mniej ambientowo-post-rockową a bardziej zainteresowaną trip-hopową wolnością i idm'owym zamiłowaniem do bitów. 

Wciąż jednak trudno powiedzieć by "Drama" gubiła jakąkolwiek ilość atmosfery. Wystarczy wsłuchać się w klawiszowy podkład do "Negative" czy klimatyczną środkową partię "Archetype". Z drugiej strony mamy do czynienia z  wyraźnym zamiłowaniem do elektronicznych przeszkadzajek, teł i wszelkiego rodzaju budujących trip-hopową całość bitów wygrywanych na żywej czy też pół-żywej perkusji.

Z ambientu też coś jest, taka melancholijno-jesienna atmosfera wyziera spod mieniącej się reflektorami elektroniki w wielu miejscach, najbardziej chyba w moim ulubionym "The Caretaker". Niemniej, jest to jedna z tegorocznych najbardziej tanecznych pozycji na blogu.

"Drama" jest do nabycia za płać-ile-chcesz.

The Best Pessimist - The Half​-​World (2015) EN

The best pessimist comes from Odessa, Ukraine and looks as if he started doing his music when he got bored with symphonic metal riffs. Or viking reconstruction. Or modelling. His name is Sergey Lunev, his band consists of three other musicians, and they all combine piano with clearly electronic ambient with post-rock elements. And every one of the elements is extremely noticeable.

Lunev's inspirations include The American Dollar, French Teen Idol and Mono, although the last one maybe just for their mysticism in music. And this music tells the stories about broken hearts and goodbyes - you can feel it in every note, every beat and every sudden silence. Now you should put a long black coat on and go out with TBP's music in your ears into the autumn darkness. And try not to think too much.

I hope I will meet his music in my dreams tonight.

Najlepszy pesymista pochodzi z Odessy na Ukrainie i wygląda jakby za ambient zabrał się przypadkiem, gdy znudziły mu się symfoniczno-metalowe ostre riffy. Albo wikińska rekonstrukcja. Albo modelling. Nazywa się Siergiej Łunew,a  towarzyszy mu trzech muzyków, którzy wszyscy łączy grę na pianinie z mocno elektronicznym ambientem i elementami post-rocka. I wszystko to bardzo, bardzo wyraźnie słychać.

Inspiracje Łunewa obejmują The American Dollar, French Teen Idol i Mono, chociaż ci ostatni to chyba za mistyczną atmosferę zawartą w muzyce. A muzyka ta opowiada o złamanych sercach i rozstaniach, można to poczuć w każdej nutce, w każdym elektronicznym bicie czy niespodziewanej ciszy. Należy teraz ubrać długi czarny płaszcz i wyjść z muzyką TBP na uszach w nasz polski jesienny mrok. I starać się za dużo nie myśleć.  

Mam nadzieję, że spotkam się z jego muzyką dziś w nocy we śnie.
