Allan Hills, band from Poznań, is another example of the fact that there's more than enough good and loud post-rock in Poland. Music so wild and uncontrollable like Allan Hills in Antarctica that were inspiration for the band's name. Nothing makes a day better than a guitar blizzard in a background. But the hills are famous from the meteorite that is supposed to contain the proof for life on Mars. Space and post-rock are exceptionally compatible.
The first track, as the title suggest, really is colossal. It's ravishing guitars on one hand and atmosphere building backgrounds on the other, plus ever changing pace that makes it impossible to guess what awaits around next musical corner. "Halo" doesn't slow down a bit but the fastest as they get is "Beyond Boundaries" and it's hardly surprising. Coming out of the Earth's atmosphere requires massive speed. While listening to this track you can almost picture the huge engines of a rocket that is about to leave beyond boundaries starting one after the other. And in the end, "Explorer" comes back to the Antarctica I mentioned before and creates an interpretation of its ice cold landscape played rewritten to musical notes.
