A Thousand Hours - Endless Grey (2017) EN

Staying in the freezing theme of this week, let's travel to Alaska. That's where the world drowns in endless grey, as the artists from A Thousand Hours (one of the two bands of this name) suggest. This time the winter is seen from behind a window, we can feel its presence but we are safe in a cosy warmth. Or so we think.

ATH play "dreamy echoes, melancholic tones, slow progressions". And they use those to play delicate, pop songs that sound as if sung by ghosts ("Ship") or being just an echo from far away in space (or in time) - "Moments". "Down" makes it the best track here, the music makes the spirit fly while the lyrics make the spine thrill.

Winter or autumn and rainy days behind a window. And A Thousand Hours in my head. That's how I see it.

Pozostając w mroźnych klimatach tego tygodnia, przenieśmy się na zimową Alaskę. To tam świat tonie w wiecznej szarości, jak chcą muzycy A Thousand Hours (jednego z dwóch zespołów o tej nazwie). Tym razem jednak zima ta jest niejako widziana zza szyby, odczuwamy jej obecność, sami jednak przebywając w bezpiecznym cieple. Albo tylko tak nam się wydaje.

ATH grają "senne echa, melancholijne tonacje i powolne sekwencje". I ubierają w nie delikatnie popowe piosenki, które brzmią jak śpiewane przez widmowych muzyków ("Ship") lub po prostu rozbrzmiewały jedynie echem z bardzo daleka (lub z bardzo dawna) - "Moments". Najwspanialej brzmi "Down", od muzyki wzlatuje duch, od tekstu przechodzą ciarki po grzbiecie.

Za oknem zima albo i plucha i deszczowe dni. W mojej głowie A Thousand Hours. Tak to widzę.
