Ed Carlsen - Morning Hour (2019) EN

There's not many labels like Moderna Records, ones the albums of which I can post on the blog without any hesitation. This time they released a new album from Edoardo Pucci who creates music as Ed Carlsen. This night is the time to get deeper into Morning Hour.

The album for me was a big surprise due to the amount of electronic sounds on it. While generally neoclassicism is oftentimes seasoned with some electronics, Carlsen decided to put it in the very first row regardless if it's deep bass line in Whisper or 100% electronic ambient in Words. Another perfect track here is Home in which unnerving electronics draw attention the whole way through, up to the impressive finish. An interesting fact here: Carlsen is being helped by the Kraków-based Dobry Ton string quartet comprising of Dominik Frankiewicz, Aleksander Frankiewicz, Krzysztof Katana and Piotr Mitka.

Niewiele jest takich labeli jak Moderna Records, których albumy biorę na blog w ciemno. Tym razem pod koniec września wydali oni nową płytę Edoardo Pucciego tworzącego jako Ed Carlsen. Warto się zagłębić tej nocy w Morning Hour.

Płyta mocno zaskakuje ilością elektroniki na niej zawartej. O ile na ogół neoklasycyzm jest doprawiany elektroniką, u Carlsena wychodzi ona na pierwszy plan, czy to jeśli chodzi o głęboko-basowy bit w Whisper, czy stuprocentowy elektroniczny ambient w Words. Znakomitym kawałkiem jest też Home, w którym niepokojąca elektronika przykuwa uwagę aż po sam finał. Ciekawostką jest, że na płycie Carlsena wspomaga Dobry Ton string quartet z Krakowa w składzie Dominik Frankiewicz, Aleksander Frankiewicz, Krzysztof Katana i Piotr Mitka.
