Nihilisticon is made of the joined forces of Eugen Kohl from Germany and David Freire from Ecuador. Together they create black metal so "melancholic/symphonic", as the artists state, that it's already ethereal. You can go ahead and call it blackgaze.
On the album with a beautiful cover art, called Behind a Mask a Metaphor is Written, they show the genre's best side. Filled with synth sounds music layer crushes the audience with guitars and can inspire and fill with hope at the same time. A little bit against it, the very metal vocals adds this rapidly dark flavour to the whole thing. But still, no matter how dark it gets, there are synth keys always ready to sooth the listener's nerves. The whole album is devoured at once, like one great and loud feast, and it's difficult to address one particular track that stands out. It's meant to be a whole.
