Russell Jennison makes music as Postmodern Machine and let me say that the name of the project is just 100% on point. The piano dialed up with electronics, gotten moving by lively rhythm sounds different, yet still very moody and interesting.
Having said all of that, it's just so surprising that it's not a typical neoclassical Moderna release. The description calls it "a veritable ambient / electronic / neoclassical tour de force" with the whole album enriched by a multitude of inspirations, including dream pop for example. The soundscapes here are very far from being static, instead they heavily rely on rhythm and movement, the electronica really transforms the piano compositions into something much bigger, with some other kind of charm to it.
