Marty Hicks is an artist originating from Melbourne, whose new album, Olreilion, cannot be overlooked. Released by White Paddy Mountain, the label specialized in ambient, makes a dose of condensed sadness that has to be listened to while being quietened down yet emotional.
Hicks enchants the audience with the slow pace of his compositions in which the ambient soundscapes border with more or less experimental neoclassicism. As in the title track Olreilion in which the piano keys can't decide if they should be more beautiful or more chaotically intriguing. The whole album is like this actually. But not to be ignored is its abilities to relax the listener as it's difficult not to float away while listening to water filling the backgrounds in the beautiful Unlianum. Worth floating away, for sure.
Olreilion costs 10 USD.
