Cremation Lily - That Light Lasted Our Entire Lives, Nothing Simple and Everything Alive (2020) EN

Today I add yet another item to the list of albums strictly inspired by the pandemics and lockdowns. This time it's one from the British artist I had on my radar for a long time but who appears on the blog for the first time: Zen Zsigo a.k.a. Cremation Lily and a short one but filled with exciting stuff EP called That Light Lasted Our Entire Lives, Nothing Simple and Everything Alive.

It consists of "6 songs for sinking & sleeping, dreamless voids of saturated industrial emo magnetic tape mess". So it's filled with electronic atmosphere and synthetic noise gloomy dream pop slash alternative r'n'b commenting on everything we know very well this year: loneliness, tiredness, depression. Sleep On makes a fantastic ode to sleepiness and hopelessness, Regret Always to the lack of self-esteem and In Regards to My Ongoing Dreams of Loneliness says everything in the title.

It's wort to underline the cooperation with William Hayward better known as døves, who's not only responsible for mastering and mixing the album but also featured in the EP's closing Understanding Forever, a track that is definitely the outstanding one and that has it all: the melody of r'n'b, the darkness of trapu and the potential to suck in to its own alternative world.

That Light Lasted Our Entire Lives, Nothing Simple and Everything Alive costs 5 GBP.

Check: Understanding Forever
Country: UK
Genre: dark dream r'n'b
