Haze of Summer began as a one person project by Nikita Druzhinin from Podolsk, Russia but soon developed into a duo with Alexander Klaptsov joining the team. I am happy to announce that they have met their objectives - to create non-orthodox black metal that fits under no label. No wonder they confess to inspirations by Deafheaven.
The Russians transfer their passion and energy to the audience. From the very very beginning, they set up a fast pace lead by machine gun drums and lyrics shouted as fast as the hip-hop ones usually are. And the whole thing drowns in a guitar sauce influencing listeners like energy drink barrel would. It is also spiced up with dialogues from Russian movies, not to mention a tasty fragment from Brian Molko's Placebo.
In "April", we can hear deep vocals by Lazar of Arkona, that sound as if coming right out of the deepest pits of hell. And maybe they do. Next tracks don't lose the fast pace, energy nor the flow so characteristic for well written and never boring compositions. Contrary to the album's title, listening to this music is far from being a znoi (Russian for toil).
"Znoi" costs only 3 EUR.
