Escape From 1984 is a project for which responsible is the Petersburg-based artist Mikhail Churyumov. His music can be seen as post-rock with some clearly noticeable post-punk vibes. Check it out on the album called The Flower.
The project's name is of course taken from George Orwell's 1984. For the artist it's a way to escape the nowadays reality that more and more reflects the one from the famous dystopia. It's also "an island, where nobody can't keep watch over your thoughts". Clear and perhaps too much on the nose, but maybe this is what it should be now.
Churyumov's music comprises of somewhat traditional post-rock while the post-punk vibes are mostly around the music. Some more interesting moments include the final part of The Flower, Pt. 2 (Purpose) with its impressive solo, the atmospheric These Trees Will Rise Again and finally the soothing down in Look at the Sky Tonight. All Shining Stars Have a Soul.
The Flower costs 4 USD.
