Iiah, "ambient, expansive post-rock from Adelaide", is not usually counted as the first league of the world's post-rock, but with their third, if I'm not mistaken, album, they are as close as possible to change it. It's definitely worth spending an hour and let yourself get lost in the instrumental music from the Oz.
Terra is opened with the most certainly ambient sounds of From Nothing and the half of (so fittingly called) Eclipse. So we can positively verify the first part of the description of the Australians' music. If it comes to the instrumental ambient usage, they know what to do. Also, thanks to that, the massive guitars that appear in the second track are not only surprising but really earth-shattering. Perhaps not who knows how loud, they have a lot of epicness and grandeur and indeed the aforementioned "expansiveness".
Quickly it turns out that the peaceful ambient and poignant post-rock mix together on the album in a perfect way. Expressive Aphelion neighbours with the airy Sleep that is followed by a wall of guitars that starts 20.9%. The listener can hardly get bored.
Terra costs 15 AUD.
