Lights & Motion - The Great Wide Open (2020) EN

Christoffer Franzén and his project Lights & Motion are back to my blog. The Swede is one of those artists who managed to create their own, engaging style and succeeded in applying it onto his releases. This time, on the album entitled The Great Wide Open

As we are used to, the Swedish artist successfully combines epic post-rock with airy, dream pop atmosphere on this album as well. Also because he decided to invite guests and so not really known singer Johan Hasselblom uses his voice in the awesome hit song Wolves while Frida Sundemo in the album's finish in I See You, a track that super clearly shows the Scandinavian pop vibes in the way of Lykke Li or 2020, Deep Elm Records, dream pop, ethereal wave, Lights & Motion, pol, post-rock, Szwecja, Röyksopp's many collaborations.

Still, the majority of the album is filled with his instrumental music. Ethereality and oneiric ambiance is what's perfectly noticeable, tangible actually thanks to the saturation of backing vocals, thick background layers and heavenly keys. This is this unique style of Franzén, nobody like he can combine dream pop with epic post-rock, just listen to the fantastic Woven to catch the idea.

The Great Wide Open costs 1 USD.
