I was invited last year to She's The Fest - a small club-based festival in Valencia of feminist nature - the only way to perform was to be a female artist or at least a band with femal vocalist. Genre-wise it was difficult to classify, similarly, the artists were of various level of fame (Belako is somewhat popular in Spain for example).
But for me the biggest discovery, undoubtedly, was Vélez. The asrtist comes from Chile and you can get it from her lyrics. All in all, it is poetic indie electro-rock with synthesizers, ukulele, vibraphone and whatnot. But the thing you'll notice at first is Soledad's manner of singing - some will love it, some hate but it's difficult to be neutral. For me it's a perfect summer off festival line up addition.
And come on, this girl's name means "solitude", how awesome is that?
"Run With Wolves" was recorded and mixed in Rio Bravo Estudio, Valencia.
