Sona - EP 2 (2018) EN

The Kansas-based Sona is a child from the marriage of Jenna and Brian Goodman and it is on this world for 12 years now. Still, their new EP is only the second one in the band's history and this is very unfortunate as it is filled with juicy, very guitar shoegaze.

The guitar-centricity of the Goodmans and co.'s music is underlined from the very beginning when in Upside Down, the album starts with strong-accented riffs and the psychedelic intro warming the audience up. It's only after a while when Jenna's light and not-that-airy vocal joins, leaving an open question for all the labels-lovers: weather Sona's music is more ethereally shoegaze or lively psychedelic. I assume the answer is somewhere in between, as it usually is.

Other things to notice are catchy and very much danceable melodies (She Moves, Pop Song) and even more guitar voyages (Further From The Sun). I found here what I need from this kind of music. It's worth waiting another several years for the third EP.
