Montana Wildhack is a band from the Australian town of Fremantle, inspired by "Slowdive, whale noises, & Kylie Minogue". So they can hardly not be liked. But also they recently made a really good shoegaze EP called Soak.
The Aussie band's characteristic sound is a combination of extremely airy vocals by Aliza Caruso and Leah Vlatko with some very raw, nerve-wrecking guitars. The whole thing is dominated by slow, nostalgically lazy pace and those fantastically etherial backing vocal. It's true for all the songs, including the album's best Leroy and Maisy's Song with especially lo-fi guitar sound. To be honest, this lower quality recording vibe accompanies the short EP from its beginning to the end and adds a lot of authenticity and unique atmosphere. Worth checking out.
Soak costs 5 AUD.
