Twin Oaks - Living Rooms (2018) EN

If the Californian Twin Oaks makes you think of dense and loud shoegaze, you are right. But this time, Aaron Domingo and Lauren Brown released a short album showing what it would be like if they started playing moody acoustic folk. And the answer is: it'd be beautiful.

It all starts with an acoustic version of the last year's track "Collapse". Thanks to this one, we can explore even more layers of the airy beauty in Brown's vocal. Because apart from said vocals, this song involves only guitar and mysterious backgrounds hidden somewhere on the verge of being audible. But it doesn't mean the track is any less mesmerizing.

The following songs are even less shoegaze and more acoustic. And, oh boy, if everything they play sounded so fantastic and tear-jerking as "Distance Between" they could replace Tori Amos in the acoustic music throne. On the other hand, "Rumors" and its naturally sounding lyrics perfectly executed by Brown or the wonderfully finished "The River" (thrilllllling) don't lag behind much. Bedroom pop in its best.

"Living Room" costs whatever you can pay.
