Dragunov - Arkhipov (2020) EN

Although the French band Dragunov's new album was released in January so it's been already a while, I couldn't miss posting about such a classy instrumental music. Because the duo Sebastien - Tristan recorded a genuinely special album called Arkhipov.

The first thing you notice is of course the graphic design of the album unique and extremely attractive. And it's not a coincidence as both the album's name (from a Soviet naval officer Vasily Arkhipov, known from stopping a nuclear holocaust during the Cuban Missile Crisis) and the names of tracks suggest band's vital interest in the history of Soviet Russia.

But the most special here is the band's sound, soul-crushing with the grandeur and heaviness, the post-rock with Russian (nomen omen) Circles vibes a bit and a bit more modern with a lot of interesting influences and very melodic too. In each of the tracks there's something touching, something tear-jerking and obviously a ton of powerful noise. For those kind of albums post-rock was made.

Arkhipov costs 10 EUR.
