Noveller - Arrow (2020) EN

Sarah Lipstate, guitarist and film maker as well as the person behind the Noveller project (although being a noveller is I think one thing she's not) is someone who doesn't have to be really introduced. Her newest album makes it her 12th since slightly over a decade. And it keeps the quality.

Arrow is an example of music for which being called just ambient would be an embarrassing negligence. There's too much of cinematic neoclassicism, dark ethereality, smart complexity there. I'd say it all roots from the cinema's influences, it doesn't take a lot to imagine this being a soundtrack actually. And at the same time, each track on the album offers something special. Like the deluge of airy drones in Effektology, the combination of ultra melodic keys with noise in Canyons, not to mention the exceptionally cinematic finish in Remainder.

Classy.
