MRW, or Marcin Rafał Waszczak, comes from the Polish city of Sosnowiec and appears on my Bandcamp radar for quite a long time now. On his numerous albums he offers his own alternative approach to jazz music, but the last EP was more of his post-rock side.
But before talking about music, on his Facebook account, Waszczak shows also his visual art works, thus no wonder that his cover art always strike with coherent and engaging concepts. The new album features Kobayashi Issa's haiku poem: "A world of grief and pain/ Flowers bloom/ Even then" and it's filled with true, guitar post-rock. But still, in those very rock-like compositions the audience can still find this jazzy spirit that fills the Polish artist's soul.
