I got to know my city-based Obiekty when they supported Sun Araw on a gig here and when they made better impression than their more famous friends. On the other hand, it's no wonder as the band is made of artists from already well established projects such as Artykuły Rolne, Kaseciarz, or New York Krasnals. What their cooperation looks like can be checked on their new great album called Czarne Miasto ("The Black City").
The collective makes improvised instrumental music in which there's more experimental guitar noise than jazz (as more usual in this kind enterprises). The impro part is very important here, the album was even recorded live in Kraków's messiest dive - Warsztat. You can risk saying it tells the story of this smog-devoured city.
It is well fitted with the emotionally spoken word lyrics, especially interesting in the complaint to the everyday life in Wawel (the name of Kraków's castle) and in the story of the wind that's said to cause people kill themselves in Halny. As it was already stated, Obiekty's music is first of all loud (but not too loud) guitar noise made into a shape by clear bass lines which sometimes, especially in Ku sobie ("Towards Each Other"), is even melodic. Definitely worth checking out.
Czarne Miasto costs 4 EUR (15 PLN).
