After a single and an EP by the Californians, it's high time we post about a long play. And so Twin Oak's new album called See You When I See You may be the most beautiful thing the fans of American dream pop get this year.
It is opened by the track we already know very well. But Montauk still makes a great impression combining the very much intimate and emotional lyrics with absolutely as ethereal backing vocals as they can be and thick, dream pop atmosphere. No wonder when it was released as a single I broke headphones on listening to it. This time it transforms smoothly into more lively but still charmingly airy Getting Nowhere.
It's a thing, the band can write tracks that are poignant, sad but at the same time beautiful like not many others. Another great examples are Rumors surprising with its fast paced beats, , The Worst of It, Lost with it's almost post-rock-like finish and finally the closure in melancholically electronic Departure... . Not much can be wanted from a dream pop album and it seems this one can become 2019's best dream pop. Period.
