gabriel / Cederström - To Space, To Heaven (2017) EN

gabriel / Cederström is a solo project by a Washington (state) -based artist Gabriel Wheeler and it's also one of those very unique approaches to the deafening shoegazing genre, that I've listened to recently. He shows it on his new album with which he wants to go, quite literally, as high as possible.

"To Space, To Heaven" is an exciting mixture of shoegaze wall of guitar sounds and experimental/psychedelic rock music. Non-obvious ways to develop songs and melodies are combined with guitar sounds of the best quality, those that are at "dense" but don't hurt your ears with harassing sound, instead they smooth any pain in their noisy way. And there is also the smooth transitions between tracks, changes of pace and sounds of space borrowed from NASA.

Psychedelically beautiful are also lyrics, my favourite is the one in "Westport to Whidbey", that has some super original comparisons inside. Also the title of the album (and lyrics in "I Want To Go, I Want To Go") draws attention as it blends on purpose science (space) and religion (heaven). Who knows, maybe not to differentiate those two is the only correct way to go?

"To Space, To Heaven" can be yours for 8 USD.
