In Lights - This Is How We Exist (2017) EN

Five-piece colective from San Jose looking up to such astral phenomena as Sigur Rós, MONO and This Will Destroy You? Combining post-rock with wonderfully melancholic violins in its music? Can there be a better thing?

Perhpas. But this one is still great. The new album by In Lights shows the band's best. Loud, masterfully written guitars mixed with charging drums and atmospheric keys and the duo Pederson - Wei playing the strings. The latter makes the Californian's sound ultimately epic, the sound of strings makes their music reaching the climax (already at the very beginning in "Forward" and later all over again).

On this album, the artists accompany us through the following parts of our lives: from looking for, through fading away in melancholic longing after the past, up to the hope that is brought by spring. The album is finished with a reference to Om Namah Shivaya, Hindu mantra praising Shiva, the one that represents consciousness, the inner I. One can hardly imagine a better ending of this musical discussion over human's existence.
