La Red Bullet - Mariner Eleven (2020) EN

Coming from Pamplona, La Red Bullet are a band playing post-rock and all areas around it. Their music is far from the traditional post-rock mainstream and this alone makes their music more interesting to approach. And we can do that now thanks to the new, already fourth album called Mariner Eleven.

First of all, it's opened by vocals. Somewhat pop-like, somewhat ethereal, very clear. The music here is definitely guitar-based but the musicians don't go towards the overwhelming wall of guitars sound, more into the subtle, artsy way of building the tension based on single instrument's riffs. Still, I could hardly say it's quiet on the album. For instance, a great track Did is finished with a really noisy, nerve-wrecking passage that sums up the song's transformation from the dream pop beginning.

Also moments like a subtle ending of Ten Minutes Away or a rapid one of the next track called La gravière, prove that the Spanish are brilliantly versatile. And the feeling of the higher artistry is only strengthened by the beautiful (and very sad) cover art.

Mariner Eleven costs 8 EUR.
