Féroces - Joséphine (2018) PL

Francuzi z Besançon po raz drugi witają na moim blogu i robią to, czym urzekli mnie za pierwszym razem, do żywego post-rocka dodają sample brzmiące jak wyjęte ze starego francuskiego filmu. "Joséphine" to udana kontynuacja wytyczonej wcześniej w "Victorze" ścieżki zespołu.

Bardzo gitarowy post-rock z wieloma pomysłami i melodiami stopionymi w spójną płytę, a do tego wspomniane sample, to charakteryzuje zespół. Sample brzmią jednocześnie nastrojowo, niepokojąco, pięknie. Oczywiście tego efektu dodaje fakt, że nie znam francuskiego, ale hej, wystarczy posłuchać brzmienia tego języka żeby zostać kupionym.

Znakomicie brzmią również elektroniczno-synthowe wspomagacze, świetnie uzupełniające instrumentalny hałas, najlepiej chyba w "Une tempête de neige sur l'autoroute" gdzie ubarwiają bardzo głośną końcówkę. Wszystko to sprawia, że czekam na kolejny album sygnowany francuskim imieniem.

Féroces - Joséphine (2018) EN

The French from Besançon visit my blog for the second time and they do it with what they amazed me with at the first time: combining the lively post-rock with samples sounding like taken from a French movie. "Joséphine" makes a great continuation of the path established in the last year's "Victor".

Very much guitar-infused post-rock with a variety of ideas and melodies made into a coherent album, plus those wonderful samples, this is what characterize the band. The samples sound in both atmospheric, unsettling and beautiful way. Of course some of this charm is achieved simy because I don't understand French but hey, it's enough to listen to the language's sound to get on the board with them.

Another great thing about this music is the electronic/synth support for the instrumental noise, perhaps the best instance of this is found in "Une tempête de neige sur l'autoroute" in which they add colours to the loud finish. All of this make me wait for yet another album signed with another French name.

"Nikt nie śpiewa, nikt nie tańczy" nie brzmi jak typowe hasło przyświecające francuskiemu światopoglądowi, a tymczasem wyznaje je trójka z Besançon składająca się na Féroces. Projekt gra gitarowy post-rock przeplatany wyjątkami z francuskojęzycznego lektora. Język ten brzmi w tym towarzystwie fantastycznie, ale nie to jest najważniejsze.

Najważniejsza jest jakość gitarowego grania tria. Czasem spokojniejsze ("Carole"), czasem zdecydowanie żwawsze ("No vous retenez pas"), czasem zachwycające kinowym rozmachem ("J'attends qu'il m'arrive quelque chose") ale zawsze pełne życia i niepozwalające na odrobinę znudzenia. Nic dziwnego, w końcu wzorują się na Mogwai. Żaden utwór nie przestaje zaskakiwać, zwłaszcza skoczno-elektroniczny "Slalomer entre les ivrognes" (nawiasem mówiąc, świetny tytuł).

"Nobody sings, nobody dances" hardly sounds like a popular French motto but it is important for the trio of Besançon that makes up Féroces. They play a guitar post-rock accompanied by fragments of French movies used as vocals. The language sounds fantastic here but it is not what's most important.

The most important thing is the quality of the guitar music by the trio. Sometimes it's calmer ("Carole"), sometimes definitely livelier ("No vous retenez pas"), sometimes impressing with the cinematic epicness ("J'attends qu'il m'arrive quelque chose") but always bursting with life and hardly letting the audience to get bored. No wonder since they put Mogwai among their inspirations. No track fails to suprise, especially not the almost dance, electronic "Slalomer entre les ivrognes"  (BTW, beautiful title!).
